Second semester alternative: Study Abroad

In the second semester, students have the opportunity to apply for an exchange semester at one of our nine partner universities listed below. We call it the Study Abroad experience. This allows students to immerse themselves in a new academic environment while meeting the requirements of their programme. Available destinations can, unfortunately, only be confirmed after course start each year. There is typically only one spot per university.

After course start in Aarhus, we will share the available destinations, the number of spots, and details about the selection process. The selection will be based on a motivated application of a maximum of 1 page. In this, you should outline your interest in the specific Study Abroad university and explain why you would be a strong candidate and a good ambassador for the Mundus Journalism programme. For this reason, you may only apply to one university. The content of the motivation is open, so you may present your argument in whichever way you believe is most effective. In cases where two or more applicants for the same Study Abroad university are assessed as equally strong, we will take your initial application for the Mundus Journalism programme into consideration.

Important to note:

  • While there is no additional tuition fee for the exchange semester, students should be prepared for extra costs such as administration fees at the host university, visa, flights, housing, insurance, etc.
  • Applicants interested in Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile must demonstrate Spanish language proficiency at an academic level. This must be documented with an internationally recognized test certificate (such as DELE or SIELE, which offers remote testing) or university-issued transcripts showing B2-level proficiency.
  • If selected for the exchange, it is the student’s responsibility to gather all necessary information and manage communications with the host university directly. While students are expected to handle these arrangements on their own, we will promptly sign any required documents when necessary.
  • If selected for the exchange, students must identify relevant courses at the host university themselves and obtain approval from Aarhus University.
  • Based on past experience, students should expect less individual support at partner universities compared to their Mundus Journalism degree-awarding institutions. Hence, you will be responsible for managing practical matters independently, such as e.g., course selection and finding accommodation.
