Semester wraps up for specialisations

Poster presentations finalise the end of semester and the start of thesis preparation for all students at their specialisation universities.

Class has wrapped up for students at the fourth and final specialism to finish its winter 2015/16 semester, with all second-year Mundusians now entering the final stretch of their degree.

Students at the Media Across Culturesspecialism in Hamburg ended their final block of course work by presenting the initial stages of independent research projects via poster presentations.

This year's cohort addressed the theme of Media, Conflict and Democracy (MeCoDem) for a class headed by Professor Irena Neverla, who also leads Hamburg's contribution to the cross-border research project MeCoDem.

Posters presented an overview, methodology and initial findings from the students' research. Projects covered media analysis for topics ranging from same sex marriage in Germany to elections in Kenya.

While the assignment is designed to stimulate an academic research environment, some students go on to develop their ideas and independetly present research findings at conferences or pursue them for their thesis projects.

Best of luck to all our second year students as they move into researching and writing their theses!
