Admission process

The Consortium aims to admit highly-qualified graduate students from the widest possible range of countries. The admission process for students is highly selective and is based upon a variety of factors. Applicants will only be admitted if they have a Bachelors degree, or equivalent, with above-average results and the equivalent of at least three months’ full-time work as a journalist. As all courses are taught in English we also require a high degree of language proficiency.

Please note: Before starting the application process, we recommend that you read the specialism descriptions very carefully as you will have no possibility of changing specialism after enrolment.

Selection criteria

During the admission process, all applications are assessed and graded in each of the categories below:

  • Academic background | The applicant’s academic ability, previous academic record and academic references.
  • Journalism experience | Based on the applicant’s examples of journalistic work and references.
  • Motivation | Based on the applicant’s personal statement – strong, clear statement that demonstrates the applicant’s motivation, commitment and relevant skills.
  • Life experience | Based on the applicant’s personal statement, CV and reference letters – cultural awareness, organisational skills, language ability, international experience, etc.
  • Language skills| In addition, applicants are expected to have a minimum Academic IELTS band score of 7.0 if they are not native English speakers. Applicants who want to study at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chili are expected to submit a certified copy of their DELE results or other documentation of their Spanish skills if the are not native Spanish speakers.

Application process

To apply for the Mundus Journalism programme you will have to fill in the online application form as well as sending an email with a PDF-version of the required documents. Please download the Application Form (right-click -> save link as …), fill in and submit it, preferably using the most current version of Acrobat Reader (using an older version or other reader software has previously resulted in problems).

Should you have problems submitting your data despite using the most recent version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, please check that you have entered data in all required fields.

Please be aware that the configuration of your computer may also cause problems in some cases. If you have checked possible causes (reader version, required fields) and still every attempt to submit your data has failed, you might try submitting your application from behind a proxy-server (for example in a corporate environment). In this case, please contact your network administrator.
