Tuition and scholarships

Tuition fee

The tuition fee for the whole two-year Mundus Journalism master's programme is known to be low compared to other European MA programmes. Furthermore, you will not have to pay the entire amount at admission - instead, the tuition fee will be invoiced in up to four instalments.

Two-year tuition fee:

  • Non-EU students:€18000
  • EU students: €9000

Scholarships

Each year, we receive around 500 applications and admit 80-90 students. As we expect to receive around 20 Erasmus Mundus scholarships from the EU for the 2020-22 programme. We expect that up to 25% will be offered admission as scholarship students, while 75% will be admitted as self-funded students. Students who already have a 2-year MA degree cannot be granted a Mundus scholarship.

We offer two-year Category A scholarships of up to €49,000

You can be considered for a scholarship if:

  • You are NOT a resident of any of the EU Member States, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Turkey or former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
  • You must comply with the 12 months rule, i.e. you cannot have carried out your main activity (studies, work, private visits, tourism, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the European Union Member States, Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein.
  • You fulfil the admission requirements and selection criteria.

We offer two-year Category B scholarships of up to €35,000

You can be considered for a scholarship if:

  • You ARE a resident of any of the EU Member States, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Turkey or former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
  • You are NOT a resident of any of the EU Member States, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Turkey or former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. BUT you have carried out your main activity (studies, work, private visits, tourism, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the European Union Member States, Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein.

Please note that you cannot receive a Category B scholarship while studying at a Mundus Journalism university in your country of residence. We also offer Erasmus+ scholarships of up to €2500

  • All Mundus Journalism students, who do not receive an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, can apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship for the second year of the Mundus Journalism studies. So far, all eligible students have received this stipend.
  • Information and assistance on the Erasmus+ scholarship will be provided at Aarhus University after course start.

General EU rules for Erasmus Mundus scholarships
